This site is run by David Masomera, a web developer based in Zimbabwe. This page explains what information is collected when you visit or get in touch, what it is used for, and how to have it removed.
Who is responsible
David Masomera, sole trader, Zimbabwe. Contact: hello@davidmasomera.co.zw or WhatsApp +263 77 729 2831.
What is collected
There is no account or login on this site. Enquiries reach me through the contact form on the homepage, WhatsApp or email.
- When you contact me through the contact form, WhatsApp or email: your name, phone number or email address, and whatever you write, including business details, photos, logos and prices you send for your website.
- Server records. The hosting provider automatically logs each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, and your browser type. These are standard security and traffic logs.
- Advertising measurement. If you arrive from a Facebook or Instagram advert, the Meta pixel may record that visit and whether you clicked through to WhatsApp, so I can see which advert is working. It is disclosed on the page whenever it is active, and it is switched off when no advertising is running.
- Site usage. Microsoft Clarity records how visitors use the homepage: clicks, scrolling and anonymised session replays, so I can see what works and what confuses people. Text you type is masked, and I only see patterns, not who you are.
- Demonstration pages. The sample and demo pages on this site do not send anything anywhere. When you fill one in, the confirmation you see is produced in your own browser and nothing is stored or transmitted.
What it is used for
- Replying to your enquiry and quoting for work.
- Building, delivering and supporting a website you have asked for.
- Invoicing and keeping the records a business is required to keep.
- Seeing how many people visit the site and which adverts bring them, in aggregate.
Your information is never sold, rented, or used to send marketing you did not ask for.
Who else can see it
Only the services needed to run the site and reply to you:
- Netlify — hosting, which keeps the server logs described above and stores messages sent through the contact form.
- Meta (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram) — messages you send me on WhatsApp, and advert measurement when it is running.
- Microsoft Clarity — site usage analytics described above.
- Zoho Mail — the mailbox behind hello@davidmasomera.co.zw.
- Your domain registrar and, later, your own hosting account, if I set those up for you. Registrars publish or withhold registrant details according to their own rules.
Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it.
Work you send me
Photos, logos, menus, price lists and text you send for your own website are used only to build and maintain that site. A finished site may be shown in my portfolio with the business name and a screenshot, unless you tell me not to. Demonstration pages built for a business that has not hired me are clearly labelled as samples and are taken down on request.
How long it is kept
- WhatsApp and email correspondence: while we are in contact, and for up to two years after the last message.
- Invoices and payment records: as long as Zimbabwean tax and business record rules require.
- Files for a live site: for as long as I maintain that site, then deleted on request.
- Server logs: kept by the hosting provider under its own retention schedule.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Microsoft Clarity sets its own cookies to group page views into a visit, and if the Meta pixel is running, Meta may set its own cookies. Your browser settings can block both. Nothing on this site tracks you across other websites for my benefit.
Your rights
Under the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 11:12] you may ask me to:
- tell you what information about you I hold;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where I am not required to keep it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose.
Write to hello@davidmasomera.co.zw and I will respond within 14 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), the data protection authority.
Children
This site is aimed at business owners and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top.
